LaunchCast is a PPG planning aid, not a safety clearance.
It helps spot windows that may be worth a real pilot/weather check. Always verify actual conditions at the field before flying.
Beginner uses tighter, more conservative comfort limits and adds extra caution around active-air timing.
Advanced allows a wider range, but still flags gusts, storms, fog, thermal risk, and rough or changing winds aloft.
The collapsed day bar shows the day and date. Open a day to see the best AM/PM windows and hourly details.
Best AM and Best PM point to the best-scoring rolling 3-hour windows for that part of the day. They are not automatically the first or last daylight hours.
Tap an hour in the detail view to analyze that hour plus the next two hours. This gives a focused look at surface wind, gusts, trend, thermal timing, hazards, and ALOFT data.
3-Hour Check may add midday thermal, low cloud, or visibility reminders when those could matter. Cloud reminders use low cloud cover when available, not ceiling data, and LaunchCast does not determine legal cloud clearance.
The ALOFT row shows compact, color-coded wind badges by altitude. The badge text shows altitude, speed, and wind arrow. The color shows the advisory condition. The arrow shows where the wind is blowing toward.
Light winds aloft are not bad by speed alone. Stronger winds aloft, sharp changes from surface wind, direction shifts, or rough patterns may trigger caution. Gray ALOFT chips mean that level is unavailable and is not scored.
Green or good-looking data is not a flight clearance. Weather predictions can be wrong, and local conditions matter most.
